What is happening this week?

We have two adult Connect Classes every Sunday at 9:15am.
Pastor Ron will teach a men's class on Great Discipleship Texts. Jesus emphasized discipleship that applies all his commands. How do we do that? Focus: learning and doing one command at a time. A great commitment to the great commandment and the great commission, and Christ will build a great church! Room C110
Doug White will teach from the book of Hebrews through the eyes of 1st Century followers as well as 21st Century followers to understand the message and discover ways of real life application. Room C114.
FBC Pastor Search Committee Nominations:
We encourage members to pray about nominations for the pastor search committee. Please check with those that you nominate to ensure they are interested in serving.
The advisory council will review nominations and nominate members in a called business meeting on October 9, following the morning service. The committee will have seven members: five actively serving, with two in reserve to fill active vacancies.
We do not know how long this will take. Search committees sometimes take a year doing research before actively looking. FBC has agreed to a timelier approach. Today, we can preview multiple sermons from candidates through web sites and receive references through email. If God is so pleased, we could have a full-time pastor by the first of next year.
The search committee members expectations are:
1. Active participation as members of FBC: regular in attendance, serving, and giving.
2. Consistent personal and intercessory prayer life.
3. Participation in all search committee meetings, excepting extraordinary circumstances.
4. Known for wisdom and discernment, one who speaks the truth in love, and not a procrastinator.
The search committee can expect two to three meetings per month, each about 90 minutes long. Members will be given tasks from the committee between meetings.
The church will receive nominations between September 25-27. Forms will be provided at the family forum this Sunday, the 25th, and emailed to members later that day. Again, pray now about who you will nominate in the coming days, and ensure that your nominees agree with their nomination.
Two of the search committee will be from the advisory council. We want members who are future minded, missional, community minded, and advocates or representatives of the congregation (children, youth, families, seniors).

We hope you will plan to join us on Sunday for our first Family Forum right after service.. This will be a time to ask questions and dialogue together as family. This will be a quick informal time together in Founder's Hall.
We are bringing back our JOY Club Friday lunches starting in October. If you are 55+ come down and join us on the first Friday of every month from 11am-12:30pm.
