SonShine News (10-1-21)

School Scoop:

Thank you to each family for partnering with us here at SonShine. We value and appreciate each of you.

Your kids get to enjoy chapel each day and while in chapel this past month we focused on LOVE. We will be doing a Fruit of the Spirit each month. So ask your student what they have learned about Love.

October we will learn all about Joy and introduce our first country, Germany. If you have any items from Germany we would love to share them with our students.

Each month our staff gets together for a time of fellowship and reflection. During these meetings we enjoy lunch together. It would be a HUGE blessing if any of our families would like to sign up to bring our staff lunch. Our meetings are on the first Thursday of every month. There are 8 of us. Our next one is October 7th at 12:45pm. If you would like to sign up please email the office at info(at)fbcmonroe(dot)org. Thank you!

I cannot wait to see what October brings. Our next Fruit of the Spirit for October will be … JOY. Our Bible Story will be about Abraham, class theme is “Farm/Harvest” and the Country that we will be learning about is … Germany. We are also just learning how to properly hold & write with a pencil as well as beginning on your child’s own work book, beginning with the Letter “A”. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime.

CALLING ALL PARENTS! We need some volunteers to sub in classes. Maybe you are not available because you work or have other children, but maybe a Grandpa or Grandma would like to help us out. There is a background check that must be completed. So talk to your teacher ASAP and get on the list.

What we will be learning: Life cycle of apples, pumpkins, and trees, Letter I, O, T, and U, Bible topics; Creation and Abraham.

SCIENCE: So far we have had some snails brought in along with a snake that got ran over by a car. We are always looking for new things to add to our science area. Be on the lookout for us! You can always email me if you think it’s to wild. We are on the hunt for some cool leaves, pumpkins, or gourds, and/or apples. Maybe you have some growing in your yard or neighborhood, please don’t buy anything special.

CLOTHING: Please remember the weather is changing and we will play outside every day that it isn’t pouring. Dress in layers and always in closed toes shoes. We do get dirty so please don’t send them in special clothes unless its picture day! Thank you!

Ms. Laura PreK Class

As the weather is getting colder please dress your child accordingly. We will still have recess when the weather is cold. It’s also cold season so please follow our school’s sick policy and remember to do your child health assessment 1 hr. before school.

Oct 4th please bring in 1 apple (any color, size, type of apple).

We are also looking for volunteer substitutes, if you are interested please see Kelly for more information.

October is going to be a fun month for us. We will be learning the letters I, O, and U. Will will be exploring fall and fire safety. We will be focusing on Joy as our fruit of the spirit. We will be having a harvest PJ party in late October. More information will come out as we get closer. Thank you.
